170-key, 4 star hotel in the prestigious diplomatic quarter of Cotonou, Benin’s commercial hub. The building aims to be the world’s first tall structure with rammed earth infill panels, infusing the building with the colour and texture of its own surroundings and providing a distinctly local feel to an unashamedly modern shell. Locally sourced wood is used extensively, especially on the monumental porte-cochere that utilises 3600 identically cut wood profiles in a marriage between low and high tech to create a poetic and memorable guest experience from the outset. The building is crowned by a rooftop pool loggia and is poised to become the “place to be” in the district.
